Do you know what major milestone happens in 2026?
The City of Dalworthington Gardens turns 90 years old! (And yes, around a week after DWG’s birthday the first FIFA match comes to Arlington and about a month later the United States celebrates its Semiquincentennial.)This is a major milestone for the place our mayor calls ‘the best place to live’, so please join us in celebrating this milestone. We are looking forward to having a great turn out from our wonderful DWG residents, businesses, and friends who have previously been a part of DWG or just enjoyed something in our city over the years.
June 1, 1936 was the date the Dalworthington Gardens Homestead Association was incorporated in Delaware. It was on this date that DWG ceased being a Federal program and became its own entity.
To give everyone the best chance of attending our city’s birthday celebrations this year, we will be holding our celebrations on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 instead of June 1. Mark your calendars and save those dates so you can attend. We are planning a dinner and dance for Friday evening, June 5 and fun in the park on Saturday, June 6. The theme for DWG’s 90th birthday is, ‘Remembering our Roots’. Watch for more information about the early days in DWG and about this year’s events as we get closer to the big day.
These events will be much bigger than the ice cream socials the Historical Committee is known for, so we need help planning and producing our celebrations! We are looking for both additional volunteers and for sponsors. Please consider getting involved with your city and call City Hall (817-275-1234) or get in touch with our Historical Committee chair Mary Webster using the contact form in the sidebar if you are interested in learning how you can volunteer or become a sponsor. Leave your contact information and a member of the Historical Committee will reach out to you about joining our team.
