Doors open at 5:30 pm.
Short opening remarks and recognition of our pioneer families at 6 pm, followed by dinner.

Dinner will be catered by DWG's own Chicken Express.
You will have your choice of two dinner options.

Chicken boxed dinner:
2 pieces of bone in chicken
Roll
Green beans
Mashed Potatoes
Apple fried pie
Tea and Water
Fried catfish boxed dinner:
2 catfish fillets
Hush puppies
Cole slaw
Mashed Potatoes
Apple fried pie
Tea and Water



You will have the option to dine in one of two rooms. The room with round tables is planned for those who mainly want to eat and share memories or catch up with friends. The second room will have live music and room to 'cut a rug'.

Background music and dance music will be provided by Ben and Doug. They will sing tunes from the 30's to the 80's and they take requests.

We will also have a photo backdrop for those wanting to take a selfie to commemorate the event.

Did you know that dances were held in the old DWG Community House before it was torn down to make way for a new City Hall? The two black and white photos were taken at one such dance in 1955.

Tickets can be purchased at the water window at DWG's City Hall at 2600 Roosevelt Drive. Pay by credit card, check or cash at the water window. If you are not able to get to City Hall during office hours, you can mail a check with your completed form to City Hall or drop a check off with your completed form in the night drop on the south side of City Hall.

(And yes, around a week after DWG’s birthday the first FIFA match comes to Arlington and about a month later the United States celebrates its Semiquincentennial.) We mentioned in our previous post that we will be sharing more information about the early days in DWG leading up to our 90th celebration on June 5th and 6th. Following are some historical tidbits that you will be able to learn more about during our different events. (See the June 5 and June 6 tabs for more event info.) On June 1, 1936 during the Great Depression, Dalworthington Gardens incorporated as a homestead association. In 1933 Carl Mosig purchased a home and land (next to present day Green’s Produce) along Arkansas Lane and called it Happenstance. It was also happenstance that First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt came to the home of Carl Mosig, with her son Elliott later that year. This chance meeting led Eleanor to believe she had located the perfect spot for one of her husband’s Subsistence Homestead Program sites that were part of the New Deal. Mark your calendars! We are planning a grand celebration for June 5th and June 6th. We want you to join our team. There are so many ways you can help us. Volunteers are needed to help decorate, take tickets, sell t-shirts, pass out food, work a demonstration table, set up/man tables, work park games, and so much more.
